Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Unplugging Power Struggles . . . is an accessible guide based on real-life experiences which explains why power struggles occur, which power struggles parents will always lose, and offers three effective ways to deal with them. As children grow, they feel a strong need to be in control of their lives. Some parents instinctively let up on the controls as their child matures, while some children push for control beyond the limits of their own development, maturity, or their parents' comfort level. The end result: power struggles. Unplugging Power Struggles . . . explains how to provide the guidance children need and still allow them to develop competency and self-esteem.

Customer Reviews: Good resource....lots of ideas and reminders. April 22, 2002 Tami (Battle Ground, WA USA) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This is a great tool to use in dealing with temper tantrums. There are several ideas and 'example' stories to learn from. While the advice leaves you saying 'oh yeah, that makes sense', it does work and is helpful. I am glad to have found this author and her web site is helpful as well. If you are fortunate enough to live in the Seattle area, you may attend her classes.
Quite useful February 17, 2006 L. Abruscato (Rockville, MD United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Quick, useful read on dealing with youngsters and emotional battles. Good examples and insights.
